Iowa State has three child care centers located on campus, all of which are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and participate in Iowa Quality 4 Kids (IQ4K), Iowa's voluntary quality rating and improvement program. Our campus centers offer full-day, year-round programming for the children of staff, faculty, and students while serving as models of high-quality child care and education.
University Human Resources (UHR) contracts with vendors to offer child care services at two of the campus facilities. The first, University Community Childcare (UCC), opened in 1971 and is operated by a non-profit agency. The second, ISU Child Care Center at Veterinary Medicine (Vet Med), opened in 1997 and is operated by the Bright Horizons corporation. The third campus center, ISU Child Development Laboratory School, opened in 1924 as a nursery school and is part of the College of Human Sciences.
